Note, I did not submit the ticket, it came up when querying my issue.

I am using XBMC svn revision 16904 on 32 bit Ubuntu Hardy with a nvidia card.

error from the terminal

Ok, that must not be the cause because I get the same error when I ssh in but xbmc loads.

Any suggestions on a good x forwarder that works with xbmc?

Did you try ssh -X?
But be careful as it produces higher load on cpu.

I started with ssh. It takes 10 or 15 seconds to go from chose a menu choice.

That's right. Delay will noticeable increase.
No other ideas from me.
