I recently setup an XBMC Live rig, but the TV seems stuck in 480i mode. I can change to 720p and 1080i resolutions in the XBMC screen settings. However, it just displays a quarter of the screen with huge fonts and the TV remains in 480i mode.
The video card is properly connected to the hi-res YPrPb input of the TV via component cables.
My hardware is as follows:
PC - Athlon 64 x2 5000+ w/ 2GB RAM
Video Card - MSI NX8500GT 256MB (NVidia GeForce 8500)
TV - Mitsubishi WS-65819
Any ideas how I can fix this?
In addition to what NismoC32 suggested, look at the xorg log file to see what resolution the card is identifying your tv as

Sounds to me like your Graphics card isnt correctly setup, i have been having a similar problem. Turned out that going to
control panel > display > settings > advanced > adaptor tab > list modes : whereby you select the correct output settin (however, you may need to until the graphic card control panel to perfectly fit the screen).

I've edited my xorg.conf as described in the linked thread. However, when I boot with the new settings I'm sent to a login prompt. How do I launch XBMC from the command prompt? Sorry I am a linux noob.
Should I assume these settings don't work since I no longer boot directly to XBMC?

Is this relevant? I am running XBMC Live from a flash drive.

Where is the xorg log file located? Again, I apologize for my ignorance. I appreciate any help you can offer.
