amd be-2400 + 780g driver (ati fglrx 8.561 or 8.58.2 ) + hardy 8.04 + xbmc (17908)

I followed the minimal installation guide, but after installation finished, I got two problems so far.

Problem 1) coredump occurs every time when I run "xbmc", but lateron I found eithe of the following solved the problem.
a) sudo xbmc or
b) LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=true xbmc

Problem 2) It seems I cannot save any gui setting, from xbmc.log, I found
"Unable to save settings to special://masterprofile/guisettings.xml". I guess some xml libraryies are missing?

any ideas on these? thanks,
the big question is how did you do a fresh install ?
with the ppa or a self built svn ?
if the later did you do sudo make install like the readme says too
self built svn from 17908, of course, I use "sudo make install"

problem 2 is no longer valid. It was caused by running "sudo xbmc" and then root permission is required to access .xbmc.
I'm pretty sure there was some issue with the ATI drivers that caused that first bit. Search around our forums and the ubuntu forums.
