Hi. I just installed XBMC on both my intel mac laptop and my apple tv. I was really excited to use this, however, all of my media is on my ppc-based mac desktop. I'm not sure if that is the reason why it's not working, but basically i can find a way to navigate through xbmc to see the folders and even play some of the files, but i can't get it to scan the information on it's own. I have the media folders shared through smb. I have to manually input the IP address of the desktop just to find the folder. Is this a problem with my firewall? if so how do i fix?

any advice is much appreciated. I am new to this software, thanks!

Once you've added your source and got it so you can view your files, you can Set Content (context menu) on the appropriate folder and run an automated scan.
