I dont know if anyone else already has a tread for this, but what is the status for VDPAU and embedded subs?

For me, .srt works fine, but all my x264 movies with embedded sub cant use the subs...

Mine work fine. I watched an mkv with embedded subs using the VDPAU renderer last week.
How is it for you others? Does embeddas subs and .ass works for you?

I haven't tried .ass subs, but embedded ones works great for me with vdpau.

Hi Söder,

When you try to play a movie with embedded subs, is there any record for opening a subtitle stream in the xbmc.log?

Here is an extract of my xbmc.log... showing the relevant part:
12:40:14 T:2757385104 M:1732972544 NOTICE: Opening Subtitle stream: 2 source: 256

You can check my full xbmc.log here:

Hope it helps
I have also had mixed results with embeded subs in MKV files. Sorry I don't have more specifics now. I will do some more investigation after I get home from work.

This is my log.

I start xbmc, goes to movie, start the movie 300 about 26 min in. No subs. Then try to change lang. Still no subs. End the movie and exit XBMC.

All is in the log.

EDIT:
this is from another movie, The wizard of Oz. That movie got an .ass in the same dir as the .mkv.

Also dont work, but it seems like all the subs is in the log?

I then tried the movie australia. There are three embedded subs in the movie, and one .srt in the same dir as the .mkv.

I can choose all the subs in the menu for subs in xbmc, but only the .srt are shown.

yeah doesn't seem to work for me with mkv. Switched to software, works fine.

I have an onboard 8300 (M3N78-EM motherboard)

Also I don't know why but I'll be playing a movie and suddenly it would freeze Sad
