Hi I have installed XBMC on my apple TV and copied over .MKV's and .AVI's onto it but some of the .AVI's and most of the .mkv's are jumpy. Is there a setting on the apple or XBMC I should be looking at ??

Use MediaInfo to qualify the video content inside the mkv container. The AppleTV cannot handle high rate/encoded video content. There are many threads about what it can and cannot handle.
