Currently Xperience's list view includes fanart which ATM is pretty hard to see, is it possible rather than making another set of GFX to have an option where the panels get lets say lighter/more opaque?

I'm thinking it might have to be something like a diffuse control?

You can set the <colordiffuse>, to make things more transparent, yes (Or it might be <diffusecolor> - check the manual .

eg 7fffffff is half transparent.
