Hi,
I'm desparately trying to have my creative audigy 2 zs pci sound card working. I'm on Ubuntu 9.04. I have sound on Rhythmbox, Totem, and VLC. Strangely enough, I also have the navigation sounds of XBMC. But no sound for movies or music. I'm also trying to stay away from the too complicated Pulseaudio, so I am working with alsa. Any idea what I could try?
You should post what your current settings are for audio hardware in XBMC as well as what kind of connection to your sound setup you're using (i.e.: 6 channel analog). I would recommend posting your aplay -l and aplay -L for others to see and diagnose. Also, if you're using a .asoundrc file in your home directory, post that as well.
aplay -l: (sorry, its in french)

I'm using the regular green connection for one set of speakers. And I have no .asoundrc file.
Are you connected the card via passthrough or analog output?
rossgemuend Wrote:You should post what your current settings are for audio hardware in XBMC

we still need this!

my best guess at the moment would be that mplayer and paplayer send the audio to either the intel card or the SPDIF out of the audigy (fantastic card btw, I loved the emu10k1!)
Audio output: Analog
Audio output device: default

Again, I have the xbmc navigation sounds, and no sound playing movies or music.

If the player is sending the audio to the intel card. Would the solution be to disable the intel card in the Bios?
Eureka!

Disabling the integrated Intel card did it. Thanks for the hint.
