Full Version: Sound shutter with digital passthrough

I have now made a new installation (xbmcbuntu) and I did some more tests with the sound.

I get a very loud shutter in the beginning when playing the killasample for the first time (in a while) and also when opening a dvd ISO.

It looks like the same problem that I reported the other day. Something with XBMC trying to access pulse audio. This time the system is clean and pulse audio have never been installed.

I know I was adviced to compile xbmc without pulse support. Maybe it is time to look into that, but is this not something that should be addressed in the PPAs?

If passthrough is not supported in pulseaudio it why should he try to access it that situation?
If I read this correctly Tobias is saying that it will make no diffrence to compile with no pulse when using passthrough. If correct the problem is something else.

Quote: PulseAudio renderer handed a passthrough stream it just fails cleanly and XBMC continues to try ALSA instead, so in this case it's exactly the same as if you wouldn't have had pulse enabled on xbmc at all(--disable-pulse on configure).

If no one have any ideas before I will compile it the next time I have a few hours to burn.
