Hmmm, any ideas as to why I cannot install this? I have win 7 64 bits. I saw a post earlier in which someone had the same problem.

the install pops up flashes for a second, I can't read and disappears as if nothing happened. I don't see any reg keys or files copied over. I have tried it on two computers. No joy.
I'm running Windows 7 and I have no problem with installation.
Verified that there was no problem for download.
xbm_nfo_install.exe = 108 433 223 bytes MD5 = CA0DF7E80AF1B4FA2A9A0E24BD09D081

Sorry, I missed this post or I would've replied sooner.

It happens on every movie I try, but 28 Days Later for example.

XBMC now changes the name of the mysql db whenever there's a video db version change so my db was named xbmc_video and it's now been changed to xbmc_video57. I changed the info in XBNE and even tried reinstalling XBNE, but it always says it can't find the new db. It does exist as I can access it though the mysql shell and through HeidiSQL. Any idea why I can;t get the new db to load in XBNE?
Normally XBNE get the last version of the base and ask a question if it finds newer.
Clears the entries XBNE has in the register.
For IMDB actors, be sure you have check "full cast" in the options of scraper.
Full cast is checked. Like I said it still isn't scraping the role either.

I completely uninstalled and re-installed XBNE and it still won't find the db. I'm using a mysql db and it's a recent change to XBMC to create the new db. XBMC never did that with mysql before. Nevertheless, it shouldn't matter as the XBNE setup asks me to point to the mysql db. When I do it says it can;t be found.
OK, I would do the test with MySQL.
But why, if you is MySQL in XBNE, you speak of xbmc_video57 ?
I'm running on windows XP SP3 and all updat's
If i want to install it i have to install thru run as and then choose admin.
While i'm running as admin.
(you have installation account and after the installation you make the user account but that is also a admin acount)
It's impossible to delete the install account in windows xp.
Problem is with both versions xbne-short and the full install to get to the database in the account i'm working in.
This is becous the database is in a hidden folder and as soon i get out of the admin folder to move to the user-account i'm working in xbne don't let me see the hidden folders.
So it looks like there is something wrong with the rights the programm is given
I think this also apply to windows vista and windows 7.
Cause they all have the basic install account and a user account
Even stranger if i try to install it in the basic install admin account it don't even want to install
I still have to install it with run as ->administrator
same goes for using the short-xbne to use it in the basic install account adminstrator i have to start it up with run as ->administrator and ofcourse i can't get to the db of xbmc.

So it really looks like you have some errors in the permisions of the program
Vincent81 Wrote:But why, if you is MySQL in XBNE, you speak of xbmc_video57 ?

Because, as I was saying in my last post, it's a recent change to how XBMC MySQL databases work. XBMC now appends the version number to the end of the db name so that if if there's a new db version, the old one will still be there as a backup if something goes wrong.

My old db was named xbmc_video, but when I installed and ran a newer build of XBMC there was a change in the db and XBMC created a new db named xbmc_video57. Did I explain that good enough for you to understand?
OK? but it is normally managed by XBNE, I will do tests ...
If you can't even install the program how can you reach a database.
As i said already because of the security schemes of windows XP, Vista and 7
You can only enter and use the files from the user who is logged in.
So if i'm logged in as MrSpock xbne can't see the db of the administrator that is in the C:\Documents and Settings\administrator\Application Data\XBMC\userdata\Database.
Because it has no rights to see it by the security of the OS
Also the fact that the program can't be installed normally.
only by right click -> run as adminstrator.
even starting it up can only be right click -> run as adminstrator.
So for now it has nothing to do with not want to fill the database
It's because it don't see it.
and also by checking this link the DB runs on SQLlite and not MySQL
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...base-files

So first fix the permission's of installing so that the program install
Then big chance that it wil have no problem finding the database

I know the problem is with the new security of windows XP3 and probely windows vista and 7 because when i was running on Windows XP 64 Bit SP2 i had no problem with this program
And i run the same version of XBMC XBMCSetup-20111126-eac52fe-master.exe
New version 13.5.0.0
- Imdb Scraper corrections.
- MySQL corrections.

By default XBMC uses a local SQLite db, but as an option you can run a MySQL db and have it centralized so that multiple machines can share a single db.
