Hi !

I found when googling the net that executing a program with "pasuspender" (pasuspender -- xbmc) will launch the program with pulseaudio disabled and therefore running it with ALSA instead.

Is there a way that i can see if this really works? Can i see anywhere if xbmc is using pulseaudio or alsa after executing with this command?

If I can verify that this really works then this is a good solution to get rid of pulseaudio temporarily and still benefit from it when running the ubuntu desktop.
IF you use pulseaudio in normal desktop why wouldn't want to use it in xbmc? Because mixing pulse and alsa is a really bad Idea and won't work good.
Turn on Debug logging and the log will have various messages about what audio device is being used.
