Hi,

When I enabled SSH on ATV3.0 with the patch stick it created this dud "Software menu".

Is there a thread that describes how to get rid of it? I tried looking for a search forum facility but couldn't find it.

Regards,

Omar

You can ssh into the atv and remove it. So cd to

/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/PlugIns

Issue ls to make sure it's there.

Then sudo rm -r softwaremenu.frappliance

pmcd
Well, there is a way to install a fully functional Software menu for OS 3.x.
To whom it may concern:

Stuck with this bit:-

ssh to your TV and install it to the plugins folder (/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Plugins/)

how?? thx
"Install" simply means copy or move here. ;-)
Use sudo mv [source] [destination] for this.
Hmm, thought I had posted already, but it seems to have disappeared Smile

Anyway, I tried and successfully removed the menu as per instructions detailed above.
Subsequently I upgraded XBMC to RC1 and the menu appeared again.

This time I cannot find it in /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Plugins/ -
any ideas where it might be or what to do now to get rid of this menu item.

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Never mind.

This seems to have fixed itself. I turned my TV on this morning and noticed that the ATV
was in the Apple menus - not in XBMC where I left it.

I assume that is crashed or rebooted itself - all's well now.
