Full Version: Strange behaviour when adding music to library

Hello,

I'm using the new 9.11 alpha2 and experiencing strange behaviour while adding my music collection to XBMC.

Some of my music folders will not appear in the library. Some of them will partially appear in the library. Some songs are in it while others are missing. In some cases the embedded cover/artwork is not shown.

In some cases removing the id3 v1.1 tag results in the fact that the whole folder will be in the library but sometimes not. The permissions of the files look good.

I have a Mac Mini with snow leopard installed.

Are there any suggestions?

Regards,
Jeroen

As a guess, the files either aren't readable or contain invalid tags.

Thanks for your analyses. It sounds reasonable but:

Permissions are right. From terminal window the permissions are all 777

With different tag readers the tags look fine. It also works flawlessly with itunes.

It puzzles me?

Is there something specific I should look for? Is XBMC rather picky concerning ID3 tags?

Regards,
Jeroen
Supply an example file. That will clear you of user error at least Smile

Jonathan
How can I attach a file?

Of course I want to be prove that there is no user error Rolleyes
Use one of the many free uploading sites (megaupload for instance) and either supply the link here or PM me the link.

Cheers,
Jonathan
Last days I dived went further into analysing the issues. I found out that just bij changing the ID3 tags it solves sometimes the problems but not for all albums in the same way:

For some albums (folders) removing the V3.1 tagging and only have V3.2.4 tagging gives full fanart and thumbs.

For other albums the combination with V3.1.1 tagging and V3.2.3 tagging is the solution.

Can be that Media Rage is the source of the problem (although this is a common celebrated tool)

I try to narrow down the issue before I send example albums/songs.

Are others experience about the same behaviour?
