I don't understand the mechanics of XBMC, but I believe this is an issue with the beta and not the skin.

The speed at which the movie info, thumb, and fanart loads is very slow. However if I use standard mode an disable the library it is a lot faster or what I believe to be normal speed. Having the library enabled slows everything down a great deal.

Always post a debug log to a service like pastebin.com while reproducing the issue please, it gives us invaluable information about your setup. See the sticky on how to report a problem in a useful manner.
