Hi

I installed on a new ATV 3.01 with Patchstick the Launcher 3.2.beta 3.

When I go to Launcher -> Download to install XBMC I get allways the massage:

No Downloads found!

URLs tried ("http://atv-xbmc-launcher.googlecode.com/svn/tags/ul-info/update_urls.plist")

In the logfile I see following errors:

CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): plist parse failed; the data is not
proper UTF-8. The file name for this data could be:
/tmp/Front Row/ATVStore Cache/143443-com.apple.frontrow.appliance.tv.plist

Finder (250) Error Could not download urls from ...... update_urls.plist.
Error was: Consversion of data failed. The file is not UTF-8, or in the
encoding specified in XML header if XML.

I'm a PC user. How can i install XBMC with Putty or how can i fix the problem that Launcher works?

Same Problem is posted in http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=61444 but without a working solution for me.

Thanks for your help
Please make sure your ATV has a proper internet connection
When i can install the ATV update, the patchstick and the other tools with the internet connection why should it don't work with Launcher?

dunno, maybe because you didn't say your internet connection works on the atv in the first place?

anyways, it seems something garbles the download. I'd try to download that .plist manually and see what happened to it.
ssh into your atv, do
Quote:wget http://atv-xbmc-launcher.googlecode.com/...urls.plist
and see if there's garbage in there.
Sorry for my late answer but i reseted again ATV and install 3.01 and patchstick.

When I load with wget on ATV the "update_urls.plist" I get a 2018 byte without a difference to the same file I downloaded to my PC and without garbage in the files.

My internet cnnection is at present over an UMTS surfsick or a Apple I Phone with tethering because my provider need much time to switch DSL here. With both internet connection the same result I can install and use ATVitter, see You Tube vids without problems. Only the problem with launcher I have at present.

Thanks for your help

Hey Thomas,

sorry to say, but I don't have much of an idea what happens :/
Either the download gets somehow modified, or something else is broken. How did you patchstick you ATV? With atvusb-creator?

In the meantime you might want to install XBMC manually.
Just download the beta2 diskimage from sourceforge and Launcher's update script with wget on your ATV. Then do
Code:
chmod +x xbmc-9.11.beta1_updata.sh
./xbmc-9.11.beta1_updata.sh $(PATH_TO_DMG)
That should install XBMC and then you should be able to start it from within Launcher.

HTH,

Hi

I patch the ATV with the latest version of Patchstick the comercial version from Patchstick.ca. I contacted them last weekend but they can't find a mistake in their files and told me the mistake is in launcher.

I need some additional help to install XBMC manual.

Both files (xbmc-9.11.beta1_update.sh and XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg) were downloaded with wget in the frontrow folder.

chmod +x xbmc-9.11.beta1_updata.sh was entered.

And now i entered

./xbmc-9.11.beta1_updata.sh $XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg

and get following mistake

./xbmc-9.11.beta1_update.sh: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `<'
./xbmc-9.11.beta1_update.sh: line 1: `<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"><html><head><script type="text/javascript">(function(){function a(d){this.t={};this.tick=function(e,b,c){b=c?cSadnew Date).getTime();this.t[e]=b};this.tick("start",null,d)}var f=new a;window.jstiming={Timer:a,load:f};try{window.jstiming.pt=window.gtbExternal&&window.gtbExternal.pageT()||window.external&&window.external.pageT}catch(g){};})();'

Sorry but this are my first patches with ATV and my knowledge is small with Mac OS.

You want to run:
./xbmc-9.11.beta1_updata.sh XBMC_for_Mac-9.04.1-repack.dmg

"$" is used to get the content of a variable ("$foo" is the content of the foo variable)

hm, who knows what they do.
You might want to try atvusb-creator, would be interesting if you get the same problems...
