Is there any way to extract a texture file of a skin so I can see the images and edit them ?

If you mean unpack an .xpr then use XPR Express which can be found from
http://teamblackbolt.co.uk. Unless it's set to private.
Not sure if you can extract a .xbt? But confluence's images are available via svn...
