Hey guys,

How do I get Navigation sounds working over HDMI ?
Im using HDMI to my TV and its on passthrough.
I used to have it set up with 9.04

In case you haven't found it yet, I have something that works for me:

execute "aplay -l" and take note of the card # and device # of your HDMI playback device.

Then create a file ~/.asoundrc and put the following in there:

pcm.!default {
type hw
card 1
device 3

Obviously with the correct card and device numbers for your configuration.
Reboot/Log out and try again?
This link worked for me (2nd post). Boot up xbmc in safe mode, follow the directions from the link below. Everything worked perfectly. On another note, if you use a client like Filezilla to get in to your machine running XBMC you could write the file yourself and drop it in the appropriate folder.

One thing I noticed about this fix was if or when you choose another menu sound it click backs to having no menu sounds until you reboot. No issue though just leave the menu sounds at the default setting.
Tried your advice DougJ and still no luck..
This How-To works well for me, although I'm using analog out. If you're not using the digital audio out, try my analog settings I posted later in the thread. If you do use them, make sure you choose Analog & HDMI in the audio settings of XBMC.
