Tried installing the newest repacked 9.11 live to an USB disk. Tried both installing from CD to USB and from USB to USB. Both resulting in a black screen after the first XBMC loading logo. Its still outputting 720p but theres no cursor or anything. Cant even get into the terminal. Sometimes iam lucky to get into XBMC but it only 9/10 times.

Anybody got any ideas? Help is welcome Big Grin
Same issue. Made a thread here

i had the same problem, mine was caused by my wireless card.

if you have a realtek chip on your wireless card it is unstable with ubuntu, best way around this is to install ndiswrapper, blacklist the rtl drivers and then install the windows driver through ndsiwrapper.

here is a couple of guides
Blacklisting the drivers: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sourc...omments/18
installing and using ndiswrapper: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDo...diswrapper

this should fix your problem.

cheers

No wireless card installed. Mine is a Asrock Ion 330.
With RC1 I had no problems...
I'm curious if this is the same issue that I posted a couple days ago.
If you press a key while the black screen is up, will you get the same message that I had?

My other thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=65149
I'm having the same issue. Here is my config:

Dual Core Intel
2 Gig/RAM
ATI Radeon 4550
HDMI connection to a Pioneer Reciever
XBMC 9.11 Repack Live on USB drive

The GUI doesn't appear after boot when using the HDMI connection on my card. If I use a DVI connection to an LCD monitor, it works fine. Booting the Live CD with HDMI works, but video playback is not working (video is zoomed in to what appears to be a single pixel as it will change colors during different scenes. Audio and subtitles work).

I'll try tonight and see if I get the same error you reported in the thread above. Has anyone tried installing to a SATA drive instead of USB to see if it works there?
Sounds like your display doesn't suuport the resolution or refresh rate. This may help:

Thanks - as I'm using an ATI card, does anyone know if the same syntax will work for that driver?
