On my ION system I have some framedrops on 1080p video files. The logfiles shows a message like this when the framedrop occurs:
Quote:11:10:26 T:2792999792 M:1302126592 WARNING: Decode - avcodec_decode_video didn't consume the full packet. size: 7139, consumed: 0
11:10:26 T:2792999792 M:1302126592 WARNING: Decode - avcodec_decode_video didn't consume the full packet. size: 6985, consumed: 0
Or something like this around the time frames drop:
Quote:11:12:25 T:2903161712 M:1319268352 DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 24: 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00 42000.00 42000.00 41000.00

CPU usage is no more than 40% when this happens. This only happens to HD content and only on my Nvidia ION system, not on my desktop.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Will try upgrading the NVIDIA drivers to the latest version shortly!

Have you been able to resolve it? I have the same issue.
Another here

I've got a thread running in the Linux forum too but on mine theres no accompanying frame drop (well, not always) mostly just a stutter or hiccough in the video.

I had the same problem after updating nvidia drivers 195.36.15 for karmic
I solved it by updating libvdpau from Nvidia Vdpau Team PPA.

Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libvdpau
Tnx for tip, but still get dropped frames,
tried installing libvdpau 0.4.3 and reinstalled nvidia 195.36.15
I have the acer revo 330 and my solution was to upgrade libvdpau. (I'm using XBMC Live).

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libvdpau1

Problem solved. Thanks sjonnie33. Also for the record, libvdpau1 did not come installed with the XBMC Live distro ... perhaps this is a bug.

Add a "1".

sudo apt-get install libvdpau1
Thank you, Don't know why that wasn't in the other post.. it was missing the 1..
I have the same problem. And upgrading the vdpau don't seam to help Sad

How did it work out for everybody else ?

/T
*BUMP* Same thing here. When updating libvdpau1 it says it's already the latest version.
I have the same issue, but only with some movies !
