When I start XBMC it appears full screen. Randomly it will suddenly switch back to being run in a full size window (i.e. I can see the top bar with it's minimise icons and the lower task bar).

Any ideas what's causing this? I have no other apps running at the time (other than screenlets running an RSS feed with a 5 second refresh rate).

Ohhh blimey - I'm a bit new to this!

How would I know? I'm running full install of Ubuntu Jaunty.

then you most likely are. go to settings -> preferences -> appearance and set desktop effects to none.

Will try that - I know for a fact I turned the effects up to full when I installed it all as that was how I tested it had the NVIDIA drivers running as the default Acer ones won't run the effects.
