Any thoughts on whether XBMC would run on Snow Leopard Server?

http://www.apple.com/macmini/server/
Server is not that different from the regular Mac OS. It has some extra tools that come with it by default, but the base os is almost completely identical.

So there should not be an issue to run XBMC on snow leopard server. I've been thinking of getting one of those mini servers myself Smile

Thanks for your thoughts. I'd have to agree with you, it should run without issue. I guess the worst case scenario is that you could install Snow Leopard (NOT server) until any problems were sorted.

The external storage looks interesting too.
I tried XBMC 9.11 with Snow Leopard Server, but it did not worked! XBMC icon in the dock jumped once but then application immediately crashed. On SL client XBMC works fine.

Plex did'nt work either. Plex started, but with empty window, and did not react on anything. Oo

Has anybody any idea what is going on? Basically Server version should be the same as client version, except few extra services? Is there some settings in SL Server that might affect XBMC? All hints are welcomed.
I'm sure a crashlog would be welcomed as well...

You have a display connect ? XBMC needs an OpenGL surface which means some type of display connected.
Thanks for your replay!

Yes, I have a display connected and working. Here is the content of xbmc.log:

Sorry, but it did not worked :confused2:
I have Snow Leopard Server on Mac mini, and I noticed that System Profiler says that Quartz Extreme is not supported? I think that might affect to XBMC?

Here is specs from System Profiler:

Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported
Ok, problem solved! I installed newer version of SL Server, build 10A433, and now SL recognize my display right:

XBMC, and everything else works now!

Previous SL version was build 10A432.

Case closed, thanks for all the answers.
10A433? That's 10.6.0.

Why are you not running 10.6.2? And why were you running a beta before?
