Full Version: Hi, I'm new. I just moved from YAMJ(PCH) to XBMC, but can't see Posters/Fanart. Help?

Ok, so I have been using YAMJ on the popcorn hour, but just built an HTPC and I am running XBMC. My movie naming convention has been as follows:

(All this was setup using Ember in the past)
D:\ (all my movies are in the root)
D:\Gladiator\

--inside that folder it looks like this:
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.mkv
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.jpg
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.fanart.jpg
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.nfo

Also, I am still using my Popcorn Hour (&YAMJ) in another room. I read that you need to rename files to make XBMC see them, but how will I do that and not mess up my YAMJ setup in Popcorn Hour? :confused2:

Thanks for any help.

I've seen that link, 2 problems:
**It is referenced using an earlier version of XBMC, so the menu's/options aren't the same.
**It doesn't say anything about how I can/can't use YAMJ and XBMC at the same time.
So you have all your movies and movie info in the same folder?
Your file structure looks fine to me. What is your problem exactly? Are they not scanning into the library?
This would do the trick for you. Not sure what advancedsettings there are (if any) that would help you.

D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.tbn
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator-fanart.jpg

You could copy the files to cater for both in the worst case.
Agreed with sho. e.g.

D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.tbn
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.jpg
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.fanart.jpg
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator-fanart.jpg
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.nfo
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.mkv

You might have an easier time setting content, though, if you put all your movies into a movies folder

D:\movies\Gladiator\Gladiator.mkv

I'm not sure how easy it is to set content on a root drive. Might be pretty simple, but it's been a while since I've tried it.
I have the same issue as the OP.

I have a fully working YAMJ set up, with these files in my Movie folders;

.tbn
.jpg
.fanart.jpg
.mkv
.nfo
.tbn

Instead of proper posters and fanart, all I see are screenshots. Here is a copy of one of my nfo files if that helps. It was created by YANFOE:

Hi

I have this same problem..

Can you share if you have fixed it?

Thanks

Hi!

I have the same problem: I do not want to rescrape my YAMJ-libraries and would want to have my movies accessable by XMBC and by YAMJ
both. If I understood it correctly, in order to accomplish this - and if we look at the example above:

D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.tbn
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.jpg
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.fanart.jpg
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator-fanart.jpg
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.nfo
D:\Gladiator\Gladiator.mkv

I would need to rename 1) the cover-art which I have in "Gladiator.jpg" and "folder.jpg" into "Gladiator.tbn"
and 2) rename "Gladiator.fanart.jpg" into "Gladiator-fanart.jpg"?

But the .nfo-file generated with YAMJ would work ok?

Is there any tool (or other easy way to do it) that could do such a conversion automatically available - I think
e.g. Ember would require that each movie would have to rescraped or atleast saved again on a (movie) title by title basis?

Thank you for any info!
