thx andy204 for churning this. guibaa and nmrs, make sure you are setup to use the R172 driver/lib before replacing the driver as driver/lib are pared.

thanks for the info. i forgot to mentions this. in the driver.tar.gz is just the driver kext. so you need to install the r172 via launcher first.
if it doesnt work and you install r156 via launcher again, you will have a working version again.

as soon scott releases a new revision i will update the launcher installation. that will be tomorrow, now its bed time
edit: i will delete the driver.tar.gz file and the instructions. i dont want others to do the same...

HEHE, not done yet This just points me in the right direction. I have another change but I need to test it first before letting it out.
EDIT: R174 with power handling for osx turned off.

Tonight I ran the r172 update and lost the CrystalHD option in settings. Everything in XBMC was chugging, even the RSS feeds scrolling along the bottom of the screen.
I also managed to launch XBMC, play an SD file (badly) then quit back out to the aTV Finder before crashing the system.
