THX i read about it. But there is no solution to watch 720p mkvs without Crystal HD Card?

Anybody has the max. specs ( resolution / kbps / frames ) for mkv playback?

There is no different between aeon skin on xbmc mac and xbmc Apple TV?
There is no definitive max. specs that works for all content but basically if is HD downloaded from the internet chances are its not going to play. You can download a program called "MediaInfo" that will give you the specs of the MKV it will tell you what profile the MKV is and any thing above [email protected] is probably not going to play well. There is a way to get Mplayer to skip its loop filter this will enable playback but the results are never that good, a huge amount of quality is lost and playback still seems kind of jumpy and it wont work for all sources.http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Adv...pfilter.3E

So you've got two options either re-encode with something like Handbrake or get Crystal HD imho the best option as re-encoding gets old real quick.

As for Aeon your going to have trouble there too the AppleTV just isn't powerful enough for the skin to be responsive and navigating through different windows can be extremely slow. Different mods are better than others I recommend phil65's version.http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=55600
You could also try searching for a Xbox optimised version of Aeon the last one saw had been created early last year so its missing a fair few of the more current features but there might be a newer one out.

Hope this helps, before CrystalHD I was in the same boat trying to get stuff to play that wouldn't. Re-encoding was a pain and I know my little MacBook hated having its CPU maxed out 24hrs a day. Honestly CrystalHD is the only way to go Smile

My Apple TV is brand new, I didnt want to open it. Maybe in one year, whe the waranty is over, i upgrade this box with crystalHD and a big drive.

I have a iMac i7 to encoding my movies. This machine is really quick :-)
Thx for all your infos about mkvs and aeon.
