I have a whole bunch TV shows that I want to update their file name. I have been trying to use TVRename, but it does not seem to like M4V files. Even if I add the file type in the options.

Anyone have any ideas on what the issue is or have a different program that will work better?

I use pyRenamer http://www.infinicode.org/code/pyrenamer/ to rename all my media files.

Its fast and easy - you can select a whole batch of files and do any sort of regular expression based renaming, this would solve your problem if you just wanted to rename .m4v to .mp4
