Full Version: Crystal HD - audio starts, but video says on the menu

I am running r28256 on an AppleTV, with Crystal HD driver r26, and was running something a couple weeks older until today with the same issue. I have the Crystal HD card selected in my system - video - playback - render method, but 1080p content doesn't play correctly. It fires up the audio, but the video never starts. It just stays on the menu screens. When I look through the logs, the Crystal HD appears to be working properly:

17:30:03 T:50595328 M: 13717504 INFO: Trying Broadcom Crystal HD Decoder...
17:30:03 T:50595328 M: 13574144 DEBUG: CrystalHD: codec opened

17:30:03 T:51647488 M: 12886016 DEBUG: CrystalHD: Output Thread Started...

When I select another render method, it plays the video too, but it's very choppy.

Any idea why I'm getting no video?

Thanks!
Adam
Mediainfo of the file and xbmc logs would help for a start
It sound like you are playing a VC-1 encoded file which is not supported yet. But we'll know for sure as soon as you post more info. :-)

VC1 is fully supported by XBMC
You're right. My movies are VC1. It seems there's mixed results on if VC1 is supported or not.

Is VC1 the issue?

Until you post the mediainfo output from this file, no one will have a clue. VC1 comes in several forms.
xbmc.log - http://pastebin.com/kswgE6Lz

I'l include the mediainfo as soon as I get it. moving big files around takes a little time.

According to broadcom crystal HD officially only supports WMV9 SP and MP not AP which is the file you are trying to play
http://www.broadcom.com/products/Consume...s/BCM70012
It would play SMPTE VC-1 AP at L 3 1080p/1080i, 40 Mbps but your codec is the microsoft implementation aka wmv9
Hmmm... I haven't found a VC-1 encoded file that can play with the Broadcom yet. They all have the same described error. I know XBMC itself supports it, but the broadcom drivers weren't doing them yet. Anyone decoding VC-1 files successfully with the broadcom?

What would you expect from microsoft? I would try to encode a main profile to see if it works but I would be looking for H264 to be safe
VC1 in a m2ts works, this is native bluray. VC1 in other containers gets messy as the correct bit-stream conversion needs to be done and this has not been addressed yet.
I've already posted a ticket for it here http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8864

Obviously I've not plied davilla with enough beer and hookers yet for him to fix it! Will have to ask the bank for another loan or get a 4th mortgage on the house. Davilla likes his women cheap and his beer expensive!!!
