Hello,

If anybody feel kind enough to point me at what argument or XML code construction I should look/use to display the actors as seen below e.g. (for the Panel Viewtype in Alaska),

Visual example where the info is present (another skin);

I would love to show it just like that; [ e.g. for Casino Royale it should look like; please note the last "&" instead of regular "," ]

STARRING: DANIEL CRAIG, EVA GREEN , MADS MIKKELSON, JUDI DENCH & JEFFREY WRIGHT

Thanks a lot for your powerful & useful help, and once again Hitcher you have all my respect for having put together DJH's work to make it true for our pleasure...

Hello thanks a lot for pointing me to the info, I guess once again that proves I should do a better usage of the Wiki at first Rolleyes

PS; I've read a previous thread in which Spiff said that the listitem.cast "only filled in the info dialog - too much data to pull normally (brings large collection to a grinding halt

Do you think this is still true nowadays? Or it shouldn't be an issue...
I've never been able to get that cast info into any type of Library view...
Well I guess at first if no skin is showing it (except the one in the screen-shot but then again I wonder if it's not a mockup...) that's because there are problems to get it working,

I'll give it some investigations in this evening and I have the will to make it work Smile If I'll succeed I'll let you know...
Here is what I've been able to customize for Alaska so far;

I've tried to keep the max info with 4 thumbs while still having the middle zone viewable for the backdrops... any comments/remarks welcome! Laugh

Yeah I'm pretty sure that was me asking about it way back when. I still don't think you can pull the cast info outside of the info dialog.
i did some tests, it's a 300% slowdown. ok for small collections, horrible for large ones. thus no go.
Hello spiff thanks again for your feedback, I guess you've convinced me to stop my testings, it sounds like pointless,

Anyway, just for my own knowledge, what is the bottleneck or the root cause of this huge load and slowdown?

- Is a powerful computer able to handle this better ? (linked to HDD IO access perhaps?)
- Why is it okay to display it in the info and not in the global view?
- If the actors are gathered in the info file (with the use of Ember MM) does it changes something?

Thanks, I still embrace the idea of getting it working somehow Rofl
1) t's cpu. much more sql queries and larger amounts of data needs to be selected.
2) because you can do an operation which takes e.g. 50ms once and don't care. now multiply it by the number of movies.
3) no.

we are planning on adressing this by using a two level db and background fetching of additional the info. eventually it will be possible.
Sweet, can't wait to see this baby in harmony with MySQL, this looks very promising, again one media center to rule them all Wink
