I have tried to install the remote following the wiki tutorial, but i am failing. My version is the german/asian edition, which has inbuildt IR.
Conclusion:
Can anybody give me a simple guide from scratch to install the remote on Asus Eeebox 1501 (german/asian edition)?
I had the same problem, but was able to correct it.
Basically, I followed the steps on the wiki here:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...an_Edition
but ignoring the first 2 lines:
xbmc:$ sudo apt-get install lirc lirc-modules-source module-assistant
xbmc:$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure lirc-modules-source
Okay, well done. Im gonna try it soon. Can you tell me how to add this:
activate the script at startup. edit rc.local
xbmc:$ sudo vi /etc/rc.local
add the following:
/bin/sh /home/xbmc/start_ite8713.sh
when i C/P this into terminal, i get nothing and i cant ctrl+x to save and quit. Im quite bad at terminal i know
try "sudo nano /etc/rc.local" instead of vi, might be easier than vi.
Yeah, use "pico" instead whenever you see "vi" in a command. Pico is way more intuitive than vi.
Thanks alot guys.. Now i can move back to linux/xmbc
Hi,
Sorry for going a bit off-topic: Does anyone know if it is possible to configure the Eeebox 1501 (the version with built-in IR receiver) so that one can use the remote in both WMC and XBMC under Windows? The path I have followed so far has led to meddling with both registry-files and xbmc's keyboard.xml - and still I'm not quite happy.
The solution (the easiest) is eventghost. I use eventghost, and can control both wmc and xbmc. The green button starts wmc, and the teletext button starts xbmc.
There is a guide for it here:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...highlight=[windows]
Its quite easy. Though i havent programmed most of the buttons. The guide was made, when xbmc didnt understand most buttons on mce remote. So i would recommend you only install the teletext button and a few others.
(du kan få det på dansk også, hvis det er
)
Should work fine.. Im no master in wmc
Could some more people test my solution posted
here without the start_it8713.sh script?
Could you explain how to test?
Under Karmic I had my remote working ok using the wiki tutorial, but had some problems with Lucid. Searching for a fix I came to the solution posted here:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=539781&postcount=9
The only thing I did was remove the start_ite8713.sh script from /etc/rc.local and made the changes to /etc/init.d/lirc described above. Now everything works fine for me in XBMC and Lucid.
I have made a small guide to install XBMC live and remote on Asus Eeebox 1501 its on danish and you can find it
here
stefanwa,
Your fix worked perfectly for me. I couldn't actually get the other method to work properly, but this worked well. I'd say update the wiki with your solution.
