Ok, hoping someone can help me out here. I've got xbmc live all set up and running nicely on my viewsonic vot132, with the exception of surround sound. I've got the viewsonic connected to my amp via optical, and xbmc set to output to iec958, passthrough to iec958, amp capable of ac3 and dts, no downmix of audio.
When I playback videos with ac3 soundtracks, everything seems to work perfectly. My amp switches across to dolby digital, and it seems like all the channels are working ok.
However, I downloaded a few dts/ac3 test audio files, so I could check that the channel assignment was correct... and in xbmc, they only playback as stereo files. I only get sound from the front left & right speakers!
How does this make sense... if my setup is able to get ac3 from video files, shouldn't it work the same from the music section? Am I missing something here?
