Hi,

I tried using XBMC to play .mkv movie files from an external Lacie USB 2 Hard Drive. The videos play in slow mo, almost like the frame rate has dropped? and then it speeds up and slows down in places too.

I tried using VLC Media player, and the video output was considerably improved.

I am using a Toshiba Laptop that runs windows vista 32 bit

Any idea how I can improve performance?

Copy the files to your local HDD and see if he problem persists. Debug log might help as well.

Also try pressing "o" while the movie is playing and see if the aq and vq are dropping down to 0. If so then your HDD isn't transfering fast enough.
