I have searched these forums and found i hard to find a fix for this, all my aac 5.1 have to be down mixed otherwise there is no audio. Is there a fix for this?

if yes u must set to 2ch due to spdif limit of 2 pcm channel

If receiver can do AC3 (Dolby Digital), it can be transcoded on the fly. Just enable AC3 from settings.
(not 100% sure, though)

Thanx 4 the help on this. I have gone to using 6 channel analogue with direct channel input on my amp to over come this untill i upgrade my amp.

Good chance this will give you better sound than going over HDMI anyway...assuming your DACs on the device xbmc is installed on our of good quality.
