Hi!

I recently got an Archos 7 Home Tablet, which is quite nice but the only problem is that it doesn't have access to Android Market (unless you do some hacks that I'd rather avoid, if possible) and the latest packages for XBMC Remote seem to only be available there (according to the project page).

I was able to use the old download page on the project site to get version.7.1 but I'd like to be able to get the latest packages. Are they available anywhere else other than Android Market?

Yes it would be appreciated if it wasn't ONLY available on the marketplace.

I bought a cheap 7" Chinese Android Tablet and it can't download from Android
Market. The sole reason for the purchase was to use it as the main living room
remote with the Official XBMC Remote...

Is there a tutorial on how to compile from source?

With the approval of the developer I can extract the APK from my phone and post it here.

Only problem being that you wouldn't get updates and this would have to be completed everytime there was an update.
