Is there any way i can take advantage of the some 6000+ actor images i have from the imagesbyname project that are saved on my hdd?

Not unless your organize them like XBMC expects (movie_folder/.actors/<name of actor>.tbn)

Might be a silly question, but how do you create a '.actors' folder? Windows wont let me.
Do you think it will be possible in the future for XBMC to pull all actor thumbs from one location? Similar to the 'imagesbyname' project?

Use the command line.
You could probably pull them from arbitrary locations if you had an .nfo file with tags pointing to those locations, or wrote a scraper to pull from those locations. I suspect that's just as much effort if not more though.
