i just got xbmc installed on ubuntu 10.04, but according to the wiki, i need to add the svn repo.... i got the .zip downloaded but i cant find the folder im suppose to extract it to... and yes, i have ran xbmc a few times (the wiki said i may need to run it once to get the folder to appear)
So xbmc is already installed then? What functionality are you trying to get working? I will do my best to help with the knowledge I have.
my best guess would be that vartok is doing something very wrong here

ubuntu packages usually don't come in a zip format so I assume he downloaded the windows SVN build

also, there's some problems at the moment

first of all, the wiki is NOT telling you that you *need* to add the SVN repo (please google how to add repositories in ubuntu)

second, the SVN repo is still busy re-building all the packages, bad timing on your side
https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive/ppa

third, the normal stable PPA is also empty at the moment

What do you mean by: "also, there's some problems at the moment"?

I have just reinstalled lucid 10.04 on a clean disk, done the updates and wanted to install XBMC as I did few times before following the guide from: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...Step_Guide

When getting to terminal command: "sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-standalone
" it gives me : " Couldn't find package xbmc" I tried only XBMC then XBMC-live and still the same.
Also in Synaptic Package manager, after the two reps are added and reloaded, it does NOT find the XBMC as it used to. Before I had quite a few XBMC options to install from, now nothing.

Is it something going on and the repo or the launchpad do not work at this time? This problem is present from about 24 hours.
If that's the case, how come nobody in charge of XBMC repo's did not announced anythingHuh

No need to have this in bold

just follow the links and do some read-up in this subforum

p.s. I also agree that there should've been any kind of sticky announcement as long as the repositories are fuxxored
Thank you very much. I have bolded the quote to emphasize what is important from my message. I apologize if you considered it as inappropriate.

Definitely should be a sticky with a current problem so there are no tons of posts in different threads and nobody knows what is going on. Thanks again.
