jhsrennie Wrote:It looks as if your remote is MS compatible. Double-click the MSRemote.reg file and it will come up and ask you if you're sure. Click OK then reboot your PC (if you've already done this there's no need to do it again). Now copy the keyboard.xml from mceremote.zip to your userdata\keymaps folder. To open the userdata folder click Start, Programs, Accessories, Run (or press Windows-R) and when Windows asks you what you want to run type %appdata%\xbmc\userdata. In this window you should see a folder called "keymaps". Double-click into this folder and copy the keyboard.xml there. To check it's all working run XBMC and press ctrl-A on the keyboard. You should get a little box pop up at the bottom right saying "Radio" (there's no special significance to this, it's just a test that the keymap is working).

Now try your remote and check that everything works. You should find most buttons do something, even if it's just to pop up a message like the "Radio" message mentioned above.

Check all this works and post the results here. Assuming it all works I'll write a keymap to make the buttons work as you asked in your first post.

I followed this guide step-by-step but it does not seem to work for me.
After I place the keyboard.xml file from the mceremote.zip in my keymap folder, my remote does not have the extra buttons avaiable.

Also if I press "i" on my keyboard on a movie or tv-show, XBMC will go to the 'pictures' screen instead. If I remove (or rename) the keyboard.xml file, the 'i' button on my keyboard works fine again. I have not edited the keyboard.xml file in any way.

I'm running the newest XBMC on Windows 7 X64.
I have an official MS remote + IR receiver.

Anyone knows whats going on?

It sounds as if you're using v9.11 of XMC, and v9.11 does not provide the key modifier support needed for remote control keystrokes. This means that. for example, the "ctrl-I" keystroke generated by the My Pictures button is interpreted as just I and hence pressing I takes you to Pictures.

Try installing the latest beta of Dhamra from http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/.

Thanks, I was indeed using 9.11.
I upgraded to Dharma (and to the newest aeon skin) and it's running quite fine. The only problem I'm having is that going back to the menu is quite slow on Dharma, but. I gues that will be solved eventually in the newest beta's Smile
