I'm having serious issues with my new build, videos are repeatedly hanging. I'm finding it hard to isolate the issue, but the issue persists regadless of video, source, or skin.

Ok, I seem to have isolated fault to a hardware issue. I've removed a router (one of two) from the network. I noticed, purely by chance that there was intermittant internet issues about 3-4 minutes before the player hanged. I haven't had an error since, so I'm thinking this was the cause.
