Hello Forum

i am using an apple-tv with a crystalhd card.
What i would like to see is that mkv videos running well, but it is always some hanging or lagging. When the movie is running some longer the sync between image and sound is crap.

I've tried with several mkv movies and of course with the sample from the crystal-hd googlecode page.

i will first start to post as much information about my apple as i can:

uname -m
i386

running Darwin 8.8.2
XBMC.PRE-10.5.r33149 August 26 2010
OSX Version (running Darwin 8.8.2 )
Platform (AppleTV)
Launcher version if AppleTV 3.2.5
Install Method (Launcher)
CrystalHD R156 (20100826)

diagnostic-files:
TOP when nothing is played http://pastebin.com/5ySYV7nY

TOP when movie is played http://pastebin.com/DnTivy8x

dmesg http://pastebin.com/8HnJXsW7

My xbmc.log http://pastebin.com/dvqKSKW1

crashreporter log nothing in this folder
consolelog only old things from 20th in this folder

mediainfo of my two testfiles:

my first testfile:

i have no idea why it is not working :-(

I have the same problem with blu-ray rips; I use eac3to to extract the video and audio and then remux into a m2ts container using tsmuxer. All the files play, but with noticeable stutter that is very annoying; Using the latest nightly buikds for XBMC and Crtystal HD (r156) on recently upgraded and patched ATV 3.2; I am also getting buffering pop-up that pauses the video for 3 to 4 seconds.

I have an acer revo running XBMC on the same network that has no problems with the files and no buffering.

Things have been improving greatly and I am thankful to the devs for all their hard work; Just wondering if a straight blu-ray rip will always exceed the capability of the ATV box, or is it still expected that it will eventually work.

Thanks in advance
Canukhd
1080p might be too much for atv(osx) using the multiple copy of the picture with the current xbmc render method. If you really want 1080p playback right now then atv(linux) is the game to play.

See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...he_AppleTV

for a dual boot method.

Hello davilla,

Is it possible to integrate the dual boot method in the next version of the apple TV patchstick creator (atvusb-creator / atv-win)?

Thanks for your excellent work in this projects.

Just for those who want to know - I'm running r33035 with crystalhd-3.6.0, old-layout bcm70012 and with the following video settings:

Render Method - Autodetect
Allow hardware acceleration (CrystalHD) - yes (obviously!)
Adjust display refresh rate to match video - yes
Sync playback to display - no
A/V synch method - greyed out
Allowed error in aspect ratio to minimize black bars - None
Display 4:3 videos as - Stretch 16:9
Video Post-Processing
Activate Teletext - yes

I can report flawless (yes I said flawless!) 1080p under the native ATV OS using the above settings. All my blu-ray rips are in the 8gb-14gb range and did not really play well with any of the previous releases.

So, just a big thank you to Davilla - Amazing work! Hope you cobbled together all those donations and are now sipping Margaritas round a pool somewhere - you deserve a holiday!

I have to set my Render Method to ARB otherwise my HD movies are all gray. What is your Video Post-Processing set to? It doesn't say above..
