Im testing around with a local repository and im not quite sure what I have to do when I want to update an addon.

Do I have to modify the version id in addons.xml and addon.xml?
And for me it looks like the information in these 2 files is completely redundant (for a specific addon)?

Is that correct or did I do something wrong?

addon.xml is the original version. addons.xml is then built from these. yes, it's redundant as such, but we cannot keep parsing tons of files on a remote repository. this can be scripted as it is in our repo.
