The issue I am having is that upon reume of my machine, xbmc does not show up (black screen) and I need to use CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring the control manager and kill it.

Here is what my configuration and what I have notived so far

Configuration:

Windows 7 x64, no SP
XBMC Dharma beta 1
ATI Radeon 5670, CCC 10.7 (10.8 has a stupid overscan bug and did not help anyway)
HDMI connection to a pre-pro (Integra DTC 9.8)
Panasonic Projector
Harmony remote

I use the Harmony remote to start the 'watch movie' activity which turns on the reciever, the projector then the computer. I have eventghost setup to auto-start and start xbmc. If the computer goes to sleep, I have eventghost catch the resume event and restart xbmc (have a close xbmc action on sleep event). So a pretty standard configuration I think...

The issue:

Like I have mentionned, xbmc starts as a black screen and needs to be killed.

What I have in the log when this happens is:

After terminating the process, if I restart XBMC, it starts properly and this is what I do get in the log:

And the error about the sound is gone.

I have tried to play with delay and such in eventghost but was not successful (wait 10 seconds before starting XBMC). Now I know that if I wait until the pre-pro is fully on (wait ~10 seconds) before starting the computer I won't have the issue. So my guess is that the computer is asking the pre-pro for a config and since it is not fully on, cannot reply or send some incorrect data and screw up everything...

I am posting this though because I am seeing this issue everytime since I have updated XBMC to Dharma beta 1. I have used the Atlantis release and an earlier build of dharma (sometimes mid-august, sorry can't find or remember the version) and I did not have this issue.

I tried to enable debug log yesterday and restart the machine to collect it but this HDMI handshake stuff actually crashed my pre-pro so I had to reset it. By this time, it was way too late so I figured that I should give up for the day.

Any help would be awesomely appreciated.
hummm I guess I am not the only one with the issue, but I am pretty positive that I did not have the issue with earlier version of Dharma...

Hello, did you have any luck? I am using a revo, windows 7, harmony remote and I am having the same issues. I am on an older release (I'll check later tonight which release), and I am not using eventghost. So on sleep, I do nothing to XBMC, on wake, it just wakes up XBMC should be active and in the foreground (but obviously we are having issues with that).

I also noticed that you don't need to kill the process and restart, you just need to-alt tab off, then alt-tab again.
I see the mouse but it's flickering funny. I usually kill xbmc and restart it.

I did kind of work around it but I'm still evaluating if it does solve it or not (not 100% sure yet). The way I worked around is:

- Contacted Harmony support to add a 10 seconds delay between the start of my reciever and the wake of my HTPC
- In eventghost, on standby I close xbmc. on resume, I wait 5 seconds and start xbmc.

I really don't like it because it's all based on synchronisation (and I now need to wait 15 seconds before it starts) but that's the best I have found so far...

I think that it might have something to do with the ATI driver as well. Maybe it's not fully started and xbmc does not handle a change in screen configuration... I don't know. Windows is fine so it's strange !
Ok, I'll try installing eventghost, but it sounds like kind of a hassle. Its not just the ATI driver, my acer revo has an nvidia chip.

Your solution sounds like it should work. I'm in agreement that it sounds like it's a sync issue between windows waking up and xbmc displaying the main screen.
