I have a similar request.
The Ubuntu documentation is out of date and does not seem to work for the latest version of bluez.
What I have accomplished to date:
1) Install bluez ( sudo apt-get install bluez )
2) Install bluez-compat (sudo apt-get install bluez-compat)
3) Verify bluetooth dongle recognized (lsusb && hcitool dev)
4) Follow Ubuntu instructions to manually connect keyboard (hidd --connect)
What I need now, is a way to reconnect the keyboard on reboot. The newest version of bluez has changed the config file format, and I can't find any instructions for manual configuration.
