Hi guys!

Is anyone of you running an Atmolight under XBMC live? I´m planning to buy one at http://ca.rstenpresser.de/shop.php?l=de and so I first wanted to know if it is really working. I know there´s an Atmolight plugin under SVN. Do I just have to switch it on and everything works perfect?

Does anyone have experience? For LED I would use Ikea Dioder. Do you think thats enough power?
it works fine with Ubuntu Linux at my end so it should work o.k. in Live as well.
you will have to install boblight for it to work.

i wouldn't use the ikea dioder, but buy the high power led strips instead.
I saw Pike's video but also a mention about it not being good for movies. Any comments on that?

Also are these parts the right ones to get? http://ca.rstenpresser.de/shop.php?l=de

And how the heck do one get it to work in XBMC? Smile

I bought the Philips amBX kit but the LED strips seem far superior and can be installed behind a TV hanging on the wall.

Thanks

no worries, works fine in the xbmc gui as well as when playing movies.

yup, nothing more, nothing less.

you need to compile, install, configure and run the boblight software:

Working is not the same as being good Smile But I'll take your word for it.

The example pike posted looks a hell of a lot better than what the Philips amBX can display

don't take my word for it, have a look at my setup:

dude, this oughta have been a reply to my video Smile

sure is a nice mvid to demo it with isn't it
Yes I saw the same music video in pike's video. But I want to use it for Movies/TV Series only and there was a mention about it not being good for that purpose.

Can one of you please post a video showing how it works with a movie. I think the lights seem too powerful or something Smile
reason I wrote it's not good for tv/movies is that you can change how Boblight reacts to video. In my video, it's set to FASTEST, this doesn't look nice for tv/movies, if you slow it down, it looks MUCH NICER for lalallala: tv/movies

Clear now ?
Thank you Pike for clearing that up Smile
I've heard that the boblight developer is working on a native boblight implementation in XBMC.
Yeah, I read something about that. Sounds totally awesome!! Will there be some form of calibration where you can set up the lights and also where they are placed in a 2D or 3D environment? I'm thinking Philips amBX hardware but also the Atmolight kind with LEDs taped to the back side of the screen. Also is this Linux only? Sorry if this is redundant since I never saw boblight software Smile Waiting for CrystalBuntu Dharma to start playing with it all on my ATV
It's currently linux only until boblight gets ported to windows.
I would love to set something like this up but I can't find a site that sells the hardware in the US. Does anyone have any retrogradations for hardware sold inside the US? I've seen the Ikea lights but from what I've been reading they can't be controlled via boblight.
