well im a newbie regarding linux so bare with me here...

im running ubuntu 10.10 desktop with all the bells and whistles on my htpc..
I'd like to have xbmc running on the tv screen and to be able to open a (preferably) persistent xsession from my workstation and control the htpc via the normal gdm service...

xsession 1 running xbmc on the tv
|
htpc
|
remote login, xsession 2? over lan

would be nice if i didn't have to use vnc.. but if vnc can do the trick i'd be better than nothing at all...

If you are looking for a remote desktop solution I recommend nxserver. It works without any tweaking.

you can also open an xsession with xdmcp but I prefer nxserver especially from windows client.
