Big_Noid Wrote:For the platform infolabel (ListItem.Writer), are these constant values or does it depend on the scraper used? If they are constant, do you have a list of possible values?
They are constants. Here is the list (first entries of the gamesys file content) :
http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-advanced-l...rs/gamesys
Thx. That are quite a few possible values
Hey Angelscry, Big_Noid is working on showing logos for platforms/studio to his skin "Aeon Nox", Woho!
This is your chance to ask for anything else :p
btw, I was experimenting with adding features (the one about gui/emulator), and while playing around, I managed to add sorting to your script through XBMC. Of course I made it for personal needs (not to publish it), so if you like I could send you the modified file (or the lines). Right now I am away from my XBMC box, so once I get there I will PM you.
Edit:
Angelscry, you could add rating (like ESRB you can get rating for any game from their website ESRB
http://www.esrb.org/). The scrapping will be easy, and you will have rating for all the games (I know it is a program launcher, but hey you have game platform and game scrappers)
This is the best time, so that Big_Noid consider it (although I wish he do consider it and show "NR" if the rating value is not set to be future proof).

It will be great if you could share this features with us. If you can send me the code lines, I will surely be able to add it to the next version and release it during the week-end.
Angelscry Wrote:With so few information it is really hard to have an idea what is going wrong. No information about the mupenplus64 version, no information about the command line you use to start mupen64plus, and no information about your mupen64plus launcher configuration...
BTW, if you are able to start it form terminal and not from XBMC/Advanced launcher that means that you may have something wrong into the mupen64plus configuration into advanced launcher.
What you can try to debug this is to start XBMC from the terminal then start Mupen64plus from Advanced Launcher. If there is some errors they will be displayed into the terminal windows, and so you may be able to fix thwe error.
Thanks, I was able to fix this problem. Normally when you exit XBMC on Crystalbuntu you can't see the terminal output because you're taken to a login screen, and once you login it's blank. I didn't realize that if you launched XBMC from terminal after logging in and then quit it you would be able to see the output. For whatever reason it was returning an error about the $HOME prefix being invalid, but deleting all the advanced launcher config files and reinstalling it did the trick.
Now I have a new problem though
I'm using mupen64plus 1.99.4 using this script you posted earlier in the thread:
Quote:#!/bin/bash
killall -STOP xbmc.bin
/usr/local/bin/mupen64plus --fullscreen --noosd "$1"
killall -CONT xbmc.bin
It launches just fine, but there's no sound in the emulator and terminal shows this error:
Quote:: Initializing SDL audio subsystem...
: Error: Couldn't open audio: No available audio device
I've had this audio problem in the past with zsnes, and I was able to fix it by adding a .asoundrc file to my home directory with only this line:
Quote:defaults.pcm.device 3
It doesn't seem to work with mupen though. My audio settings in xbmc are HDMI, Speaker configuration 2.0, and both regular and passthrough devices set to Custom, plughw:0,3
EDIT: Got it to work! If anyone else is struggling with this, I found my solution in this post:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=454155&postcount=3
Copied over his .asoundrc exactly as written, changed my audio output in xbmc to Default(alsa) and left passthrough as plughw:0,3
Angelscry Wrote:Your command line to start zsnes is not at all the good one (http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=ZSNES#Linux). That's why zsnes do not start the roms correctly. A good script could be :Code:
#!/bin/bash
killall -STOP xbmc.bin
/usr/bin/zsnes -m -s -v 22 "$1"
killall -CONT xbmc.bin
Then you have to configure your file launcher correctly :
application : pointing to your zsnes .sh script
arguments : "%rom%"
could you explain how you do this whole process please as i too would like the rom to start and not the emu
many thanks

This is a tutorial how to create a files launcher into Advanced Launcher to start roms. In your case, instead of selecting the
/usr/bin/zsnes file, your select the script you selected and use "%rom%" argument instead of the default one.
Here you go.
In the method "_get_roms"
around the if statement add the following lines (ignore the if statement)
Code:
if (len(roms) > 0) :
xbmcplugin.addSortMethod(int( self._handle ), xbmcplugin.SORT_METHOD_LABEL)
xbmcplugin.addSortMethod(int( self._handle ), xbmcplugin.SORT_METHOD_VIDEO_YEAR)
xbmcplugin.addSortMethod(int( self._handle ), xbmcplugin.SORT_METHOD_STUDIO)
xbmcplugin.addSortMethod(int( self._handle ), xbmcplugin.SORT_METHOD_GENRE)
This will allow sorting by Title/Year/Studio/Genre for the ROM screen
For sorting the launchers, in the method "_get_launchers" under the if statement, add the following (ignore the if)
Code:
if (len(self.launchers) > 0):
xbmcplugin.addSortMethod(int( self._handle ), xbmcplugin.SORT_METHOD_LABEL)
xbmcplugin.addSortMethod(int( self._handle ), xbmcplugin.SORT_METHOD_VIDEO_YEAR)
This will enable sorting by Title/Year (I couldn't think of any other proper way to sort launchers or emulators)
I notice while skimming the code that you have sorting, maybe you should remove all sorting, and leave this to XBMC as it surely will be more efficient. But the above will sort that out for now.
Version 1.7.8 : This new version of advanced launcher bring some minor modifications : fix python version error bring by version 1.7.7 (my mistake), fix a startupinfo bug and clean ComicVine data scraper code. Only noticeable modification if the add of the display sorting support for launchers and items. Thank you to
Tria to remind me this lack and for the code.
Changelog:- Add launcher and item sort list support.
- Fix python version to 2.0.
- Fix startupinfo bug for none info.
- Clean ComicVine data scraper.
I followed the linux steps in this
guide, but whenever I try to launch a game it says it's launching but never does anything more.
well I'm bit ashamed but what is "launcher and item sort list support" exactly?
all I see since update is "onlive" going in the last position of my launcher list...is this a feature for some skin ...or what?

Seriously, we need more information to help you. If you want more help you need to give us a minimum information about your configuration :
- Linux distribution name and version number
- XBMC version number
- Dolphin version number
- Content of you launchers.xml file (use pastebin service to post here)
- Also you can try to start XBMC from the terminal, try to start Dolphin from XBMC/advanced launcher and look and report here the error message displayed into the terminal window.
