I want to install the addon on Dharma but it is marked in the Angelscry Repo as "Defect" (dependencies not fulfilled). What have I made wrong?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
You didn't - but as far as I can remember AL now sports some features of Eden which aren't available on Dharma - thus you cannot use AL on Dharma in the newest version anymore.

Create one launcher for each comic sets.
why didn't I think of that? well done sir!
is there a way of giving each set it's own thumb then?
As for items you can assign description, thumbs and fanarts to launchers... but only manually.

I have a bunch og ripped iso´s and som are 3D like thatgreatmovie-3dbd.iso
Can i configure a script that when I activate an iso that has 3dbd in it, it will activate my nvidia stereo scopic setting.
I have a shortcut on my desktop, whit the parameter /enable and one eith the parameter /enable
If I somehow can run these based on filenames it would be cool.
TIA
Yes of course you can run script based on filenames. That one of the main feature of Advanced Launcher. You have to create a File launcher, indicate the application you want to start, indicate the files extension (iso in you case), indicate the command line. You will found a youtube tutorial on file launchers here :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Pl-3yEDgUY
Now, instead of selecting an application you can select you proper script. Shortcuts are also natively supported by Advanced Launcher. You will found another Youtube tutorial here :

@Angelscry:
Recently I stumbled upon a tag <id></id> in the launchers.xml - could you explain to for what this is used? The problem is that I am building a program which should have the possibility to write the launchers.xml and I currently cannot say for what the tag is used. Is it necessary that the tag is present? Are the ids stored at some point other than in the launchers.xml?
The <id></id>field in launchers.xml contains the unique ID number of each item and it is needed by Advanced Launcher and XBMC. For example, when you create a favorite of an Advanced Launcher item into XBMC, the favorite URL is directly linked to this ID number. This ID number is also used when you want to start, edit or delete an item. This item ID number is generated randomly.

Normaly, the actual version of Advanced Launcher (1.7.13), present of my repository, is compatible with Dharma and Eden verison of XBMC. You may not have this error message. What you can try is to go into System / Add-ons / Get Add-ons, highlight Angelscry Add-on Repository, press "C" key and select "Force Refresh" and then "Check for Updates" option. Then go into Angelscry Add-on Repository / Program Add-ons / Advanced Launcher / Install.
If you still have the error. The other thing you can do is to manually download the last version of Advanced Launcher and manually install it from XBMC : System / Add-ons / Install from zip file, then select the downloaded Advanced Launcher zipped archive. You can download last version of Advanced Launcher here :

That's totally wrong. The Advanced Launcher version present on my repository is FULLY compatible with Dharma and Eden versions of XBMC. So you can use the last version of Advanced Launcher with XBMC Dharma.

Angelscry, sorry to be a bother, can you tell me how to do this please?

On highlighted launcher, press "C" key and select "Edit Launcher" option. Then you can select "Change Thumbnail Image" or "Change Fanart Image". For these 2 options you can Import or link a local image (image present of your harddrive). If you select Google as thumb and fanart scraper you could also use the "Import from Google" option to modify the thumb and fanart image. To modify launcher information, you need to select the "Modify Data/Infos" option. Then you can modify each entries manually. Or you can also save the launcher information into the NFO file ("Save to NFO file" option), edit the saved NFO file with a text editor, and then reimport the NFO file ("Import from NFO file" option) as launcher information/description.
Hi Angelscry,
i have followed your tutorial for adding a second launcher. i can see the second launcher now in programs, but when i try to go into it, i get the error Script failed!: addon.py
any idea what has happened here?
updated to latest and is now fixed

Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately both ways didn't work. Perhaps it has something to do with that I'm on Windows 7 64 Bit? Is there any logfile where I can see which dependencies are not fullfilled?

No... I have tested XBMC Dharma version on my Windows 7 64bit system and all was working perfectly on it. Now for the dependencies, Advanced Launcher has only 2 dependencies (you can found them into the addon.xml file of Advanced Launcher) :
Code:
...
<import addon="xbmc.python" version="2.0"/>
<import addon="script.module.simplejson" version="2.0.9"/>
...
Normally both dependencies are included into XBMC. What you can try is to replace xbmc.python version 2.0 by 1.0. Normally Dharma use version 1.0 and Eden use version 2.0.
Code:
...
<import addon="xbmc.python" version="1.0"/>
...
Also, for the script.module.simplejson module check that this one is present into your
application data/XBMC/addons directory.
Version 1.7.14 : Here is again a small fix of Advanced Launcher. This new version fix a bug occurring only under Windows. Most of the time, after closing the started application, XBMC was not able to get the focus and return back into fullscreen. This new version may fix the problem. With this fix, it will also now be possible to use Advanced Launcher into true fullscreen mode (if XBMC and the started application have to display incompatibilities).
Changelog :- Fix XBMC focus return bug under Windows.
comic vine scrapers are hit an miss. Wolverine (2010 onwards) really not pulling through well
(2012-03-19, 01:48)dirtymurt Wrote: [ -> ]comic vine scrapers are hit an miss. Wolverine (2010 onwards) really not pulling through well
Problem is that some comics are really difficult to identify simply by their filename. Here for example the Wolverine (2010 onwards) comics from 3 different comics database sources :
Depending the database you are using the series and volumes are not sorted exactly with the same manner.
For
ComicVine first issues are regrouped into 3 volumes :
Wolverine: Wolverine Goes To Hell (#1-5),
Wolverine: Wolverine vs. the X-Men (#5.1, 6-9) and
Wolverine: Wolverine's Revenge (#10-16). But, for example, using the ComicVine WWW search engine it is not possible to directly found the issue #2 of
Wolverine: Wolverine Goes To Hell. The Advanced Launcher ComicVine scraper is based on this search engine. The issues is effectively present into the database, but
Wolverine: Wolverine Goes To Hell #2 return no result (when search on
Wolverine: Wolverine Goes To Hell #1 return you the right issue). There is no way to access this second issue from the ComicVine search engine. And that's not a joke.
According to
Comic Book DB issues #17-19 are from volume
Wolverine : Regenesis... but ComicVine do not name them like this. So in this case, who is right
Comic Book DB or
ComicVine?
So your problem to identify an issue and scrap correctly its information come primary from the
ComicVine database, and not from the scraper. And as soon as ComicVine will not allows to access all the refered comics from its search engine it will not be possible to have a good comic scraper from this source.
Now, from my personal opinion, all this 3 comics database are jokes. There is a really simple universal way to identify a comics issues : using ISBN or UPC number :
75960607152401811 (for
Wolverine: Wolverine Goes To Hell #2). But none for this 3 reference database use them.
A very detailed explanation Angelcry, thanks, that is pretty much what I am experiencing.
can comicbookDB be used within Advancedlauncher, is it any better/worse? I may try Google scraper to see if that is any better.
Another issue I discovered last night was, when scraping my Sandman issues, the scraper crashed out after 30-40 books. Is this a timeout thing with comicvine or something else?

ComicVine seems to be the most complete comics database (for description, issue summary and covers images) but its search engine or its API are not really easy to use at all. At the opposite the
Grand Comics Database have the best search engine but its database is not complete as the
ComicVine one.
Comic Book DB seems between the two. But because the 3 databases do not use the same issue sorting or do not use UPC number is it not possible to create a scraper that will use the 3 databases (to take the best of each ones like : identify a comic using
Grand Comics Database and get data and images from
ComicVine). I'm actually trying the create a new comic scraper for Advanced Launcher based on Google and ComicVine.
For your problem on the Sandman isssues, is it happen only with thess issues (could be again a scraper problem) or it happen only one time (could effectively be a timeout connection problem to ComicVine website wich is extremelly slow sometime)?
it's the only directory I've tried with that many issues in. So far I have been doing reasonable new series with up to maybe 30 issues max. It does seem to be timing out

I managed, just about to get the images scraped using google, however, because of the naming conventions it was impossible to scrape any issue info. but I'm not overly worried about that as a lot of info has spoilers anyway.
that said, is there anyway, Angelscry, that you could open any comic file and pull out the first image (normally the cover), obviously this could only work with cbz file and not cbr or pdf.
I think this would be a great, automated way to get the issue thumbs
how about that for a challenge sir?
