@Angelscry: I know, if i rename it ofcourse it works correctly.
all about this is trap this error and show it in ALA because only response who have user is script error.
so if there are info like:
Error: inacceptible filename, [name of file] please rename it and try again.
or skipping inaceptible filenames but with information on finish
%1 files skipped due to inacceptible filename
[filename1], [filename2] etc.etc.
what do you think about possibility of deleting permanently unwanted games?
ill try to make a polish translation of ALA.
what do you think about cut out toogle waitstate function in ALA?
is there anyone who use it? or who know what this function doing
I've switched to snes9x since I haven't been able to get zsnes to work. Thanks for the help, though. If anybody else has some ideas, I'd still prefer to run zsnes but this will work for now.
On a related topic...does anybody run Project64 on windows from the advanced launcher plugin? It launches it great for me, but afterwards, xbmc won't restore and I have to force quit it. I'm using Mupen64plus instead now which works, but doesn't seem to be as compatible with as many games as pj64
there is
http://www.mediafire.com/?be0jubd1xufwzf5 polish translation
but with polish signs is similiar problem like a spanish in names
i think theres problem with words in polish who appearing in bottom right side (response screen or something)
i can write a translate without polish signs in that screen, but in polish many words are other meaning
eg eng Loading
in polish looks ładuję and meaning exactly as loading. without polish signs it looks like (laduje) and it could mean LANDING
Is there some way to make Advanced Launcher scan ROM directories recursively? My directory structure looks something like this -
\roms
.......\gamecube
................\game1
.........................\rom.bin
.................\game2
........................\Disc 1
..................................\rom.bin
.........................\Disc 2
..................................\rom.bin
.......\n64
.................\game1
.........................\rom.bin
.......\neogeo
.................\cps1
.........................\rom.zip
.................\cps2
.........................\rom.zip
.................\neogeo
.........................\rom.zip
.......\nes
.................\game1
.........................\rom.bin
.......\playstation
.................\game1
.........................\rom.bin
.......\snes
.................\game1
.........................\rom.bin
...so on and so forth.
Long story short - Advanced Launcher doesn't detect any of the games unless I get rid of the individual folders and lump them all into a single directory for each emulator. This is undesirable for me since keeping things as discrete as possible makes all of these ROMs and emulators much more manageable.
Is there no way to scan recursively? Did I miss a setting somewhere?
is there a way i can have a folder of just PC Games? Like have the PC as a console like genesis, N64, etc.? Currently it makes each PC game its own launcher. is this possible?

No, the launcher will not delete anything. It will not permanently delete files because they have unwanted characters. Too risky. The toogle waitstate function was initially coded into the launcher. I think it was added to let time to launched windows applications to completely start before switching between XBMC and application view. In most of the case we did not use it. But for some users, with low configuration system it is necessary.

Yes, this problem is not imply linked to filenames but to the display of all the accentuated and non-standard characters and unfortunately it will not be solved in one day. Also thank you for the polish translation I will add it when the character display problem will be solved.

No, actually there is no way do to this. If you use different folders for each roms, that will also means that we will need to use differents folder for each thumbs, for each fanarts, and it will starting to be really difficult to manage all of this. I will add this to my todo list. Maybe add an option into the settings. But that mean I will need to rewrite all the part concerning the game launching and image management.

Yes you can make this by using .BAT files or use a program called hstart. You will see more information
here.

I do and it works fine for me. I bet it's the version you're using. What version are you on? Not at my home PC right now but I'll recognize if its the same one. I think I have either 1.7.55 or 1.7.49 or something.
xmurrx Wrote:can someone make a guide on how to set this up? I really want to use this but I am at a loss.
Sure, basically:
1. Download the version you want from
here.
2. Unzip the contents to [XBMC user data]/addons/ , For Windows 7, e.g., this is in Users/John/AppData (hidden folder)/Roaming/XBMC/
3. Start (or restart) XBMC
4. Enable "Programs" on the home menu if it's not already there via Settings->Skin. (Note this isn't avaible in ALL skins)
5. Go into Programs.
Hey Angelscry, you might want to add a quick installation tutorial on your first post. Feel free to steal any/all of what I've written!

No need to manually extract the file into that folder. Just go in xbmc into the addons menu and select "install from zip" and select the file.
Angelscry Wrote:After your last post I have also search on my own. There is some command lines arguments that could be usefull (like -romident). I have to make some tests. I think it will not be difficult to code this into python. But I have to check if it could works for the different operating systems (under windows, linux, mac, etc...) and with the differents version of mame (mame, sdlmame, etc...). May be more difficult.
This might be the way to do it. Just not sure how we could represent that in the GUI. When someone chooses "mame" and the emulator, go through each rom and -romident each one? Hmmm.

Yes, something like that. Just make a test on the emulator application name (like for your argument auto-completion path). Then for each romfile, instead of using the filename as romname, use the -romident argument to retrieve the romname from Mame database and save it. It may works I think. I have to make some test. It will mostly depend of the time that it will take by the Mame application to retreive the titlename from all the database.
hmmmm not sure -romident would do it.. unless possible if the rom image files are extracted from the zips (if your run mame that way). Then grab the string from it checking the rom files to see if you have a compatible rom.
from mame developer site
# If you have an EPROM programmer, you can read the ROMs from your PCB to see if they are a match for what is currently supported in MAME, or if they are an alternate revision. Use mame -romident to identify ROM images that are dumped.
edit:
this might work better...
mame -listfull dkong
Name: Description:
dkong "Donkey Kong (US set 1)"
or mame -listxml dkong
gives u a long XML to work with.. plus it gives you Description and year and manufacturer already in the XML
just playing around. trying to learn a little about python. but came up with something like this. just not sure where i would put it in this script..
mame -listxml dkong|python test.py
test.py
Quote:import os
import sys
import re
data=sys.stdin.read()
name = re.findall( "<description>(.*?)</description>", data )
print name
results
['Donkey Kong (US set 1)']
