BrotherMagneto Wrote:has anyone gotten ScummVM to work with ALA? I'm gonna try it this weekend but I think that I'm just gonna set it up as a single-file launcher and use ScummVM itself to launch my Lucas games. Has anyone set it up as a ROM launcher?

Configuration of ScummVM is slighty different than for other emulators, because its command line does not ask for the rom/game filename but for a king of game short name (like for MAME games). And so the rompath has to be indicated first into ScummVM itself. The trick is to rename the game file with their game short name and use the %romname% parameters for argument. Here is the corresponding WIKI page : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=ScummVM
Hi Angelscry,

I'm getting an addon.py error when I scrape for my GB Advance games. Here's the xbmc.log

http://pastebin.com/icmf0JiK

It seems to be looking for some thumbnail files but then cannot find them. I tried creating the a fake file with the name it was looking for but it didn't seem to help. Huh

Cheers

Thank you. I will try to found what is the cause of the problem. Wink

EDIT: Normally fixed by version 1.0.6
I suspect this is a windows thing.
I though it worked, now when I try to launch my apps, the console opens up but does not launch my bat or lnk files.
It opens cmd line and just sits there. It also gives no info why it does not start the app.
Did I do something wrong ?

[1]Created a C:\Games\_launcher\launcher.bat file with "START %1" in it
[2]Made a new directory C:\Games\_launcher\PC Games\ with lnk&bat files
[3]For the bat files created another .bat file containing START "C:\Games\Developer\My game\My game.exe". Copied my shortcuts straight from desktop for lnk
[4]In ALA, add an emulator/rom launcher that runs launcher.bat, with the rom path to where all your .bat files are.

This is more ideal since all the PC games would then remain under that launcher and not between my other emu files.
Using ALA 1.0.6 on Windows 7_x32

Angelscry Wrote:Since version 0.9.9 shortcut .lnk files are fully supported by Advanced Launcher. So you can put all the .lnk into the same directory and use them as rom files : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?ti..._shortcuts
When trying to add lnk files (under standalone/file launcher) it only displays the bat files in the folder (like it doesn`t recognize lnk files)
Not sure what to do since I would still like to have all scraped info as in ALA.

You do not need at all to create or use a .bat launcher file to start .lnk files. Just create .lnk shortcuts of your games. Put them into the same directory. Create a launcher with any application (it will be not launched) and indicate "%rom%" as argument and lnk as file extension. That's all. There is also a wiki page about this : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?ti..._shortcuts Wink

Face-palm Big Grin
Thank you. This now works. I had to remove any spaces in the shortcut.lnk files.

Edit: Double face palm
Angelscry Wrote:Advanced Launcher is supporting spaces in shortcut.lnk files. Which version of Windows are you using? Have you put the %rom% argument under quotation ("%rom%") as it is written on the wiki page?

No I didn`t add the " " (works great now even with the spaces)

ps. this makes quick work of renaming 1-4a rename (use F2 for advanced options)
and this is the over complicated one with command line bulkrenameutility

I dont know if this is the right place to ask this. I got the launchers set up perfectly and it is all working great. However the only way to close the emulator and get back to xbmc is ALT + F4. I am trying to find away to map ALT + F4 to a singly key so I can then map that key to my remote. I tried to use autohotkey, but that is confusing the hell out of me. Any suggestions? how are you guys doing this?
Version 1.1.0 : This new version of Advanced Launcher fix some bugs and improve XBMC process control for Windows users.

The commands System.ExecWait() and System.Exec() which where previously used specifically to start windows applications have been replaced by the subprocess.Popen() command. Now, the way to start applications is similar to Linux and OSX. The first consequence of this change, is that roms filenames containing coma are now supported. The control of XBMC state, when an application is launched still possible. It is now made by an included executable controller file. This controller allows to assign different states to the XBMC process:
  • Normal: XBMC run normally. It is similar to the System.Exec() command.
  • Low Priority: XBMC run but with a low priority. When the launched application is closed XBMC priority become again normal.
  • Paused: XBMC is paused. When the launched application is closed XBMC is become again active. It is similar to the System.ExecWait() command.
  • Closed: XBMC is closed. When the launched application is closed XBMC is restarted automatically.
These XBMC process states can be assigned independently to each launchers using the launcher context menu (in Advanced Option). The default XBMC process state is Paused.

Changelog
  • Fix bug with romfilenames containing comas under Windows
  • Rename XBMC Wait State to XBMC Process State under Windows
  • Add Low priority and Close option for XBMC Process under windows

Most launchers allow you to map the shortcut keys for their functionality. I usually just bind the "Exit" command to ESC (detailed in some of the wiki pages for some emulators).

Autohotkey is pretty simple, a google search for "autohotkey remap keyboard" brought up this: http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/misc/Remap.htm. It seems pretty simple to just put
Code:
#IfWinActive ahk_class <Launcher Name Here>
Escape::RAlt & F4
I have ESC bound to the "Back" button on my remote...but you can bind however you want, maybe you want to press "0" or something.

If you can't do this, Xpadder lets you bind Alt+F4 to a game controller. I'm not sure if it will work for a remote, but it's worth a shot.
Since Update to 1.1.0 I get an error message everytime I want to start an app (addon.py).

Latest Dharma, Alaska revisited Skin.

Seems to be an issue with the "%1% declaration.

Would it be possible to get newlines to work in plots? At the moment a newline is just four squares. It works for 'real' plots (movies/tvshows/whatever) so surely it can be done - the question is how.

Try opening your launchers.xml and doing a find and replace where the carriage return characters are. Replace the four squares with
Code:
&# 13;
but remove the space between # and 1. If it works, it can be coded into the next ALA release.
