A few of the skins I use have the wide posters support for tv shows and some don't.
Is it possible to have both the normal style poster and wide style poster in the same folder so that I am able to select either and have the posters show correctly?
some skin support this function, I'm using Alaska Revisited Mod and it supports: banner.jpg, poster.jpg, landscape.jpg, logo.png (and with a small mod clearart.png)
but this is skin specific, I know other skins also support this, I just dont know which ones

So I need banner for the wide one and poster for the "normal" one?
Maybe I'm doing something wrong (it has been known before).
I think I have got the proper files in the correct locations but if I try and view a show using a view that uses the wide type image it doesn't get displayed.
The images shown are off the poster style ones stretched to fit the wide display area on the skin.
I have tried it with all the skins available on the dharma rc2 with the same results.
Any help is appreciated.

maybe you should post / read the dedicated alaska skin subforum.

Since I was having problems with all the skins I had installed I didn't think just picking a random skin sub forum and posting in that was a good idea.
If this is in the wrong place (which judging by the replies it is) I apologise.
I think the problem your using some skins support banner.jpg AND poster.jpg.
Those skins you shouldn't have a problem. But some skins only support poster.jpg/folder.jpg.
What happens is, if the skin doesn't support BOTH banner.jpg AND poster.jpg/folder.jpg it just picks the poster.jpg OR folder.jpg.
I probably didn't explain that well.
folder.jpg - officially supported by xbmc
poster.jpg - I think is also officially supported by xbmc
banner.jpg - Not officially supported by xbmc but some skins use it.
Basically for everything to work in all skins you can only have one file. Use folder.jpg.
So with you current structure.
Delete folder.jpg
Rename banner.jpg to: folder - banner.jpg
Rename poster.jpg to: folder - poster.jpg
At this point you have no poster or banners that xbmc will understand.
If you want to use posters then rename: folder - poster.jpg to: folder.jpg
If you want to use banners then rename: folder.jpg back to: folder - poster.jpg
Then rename rename folder - banner.jpg to: folder.jpg
So have one file only, named folder.jpg be it a poster or banner.
Unfortunately xbmc doesn't natively support banner.jpg and poster.jpg.

I was having problems with this too - fantastic explanation! Thank you!
