I love the look of XBMC, the menus work perfectly, and local media plays fine, but I can't play any streaming media. I've added a number of sources including YouTube and iPlayer and I keep getting "Playback failed" messages.

OSX Version: 10.4.11
Platform: Apple Mac PPC G4
Install Method: DMG
SVN Revision: XBMC 10.0 r35648
Detailed Instructions to Reproduce the Problem: I open the video menu, choose video addons, select iPlayer and then whatever video stream I choose to watch fails.
FULL Debug Log: http://pastebin.com/nEXS1KZ8

Any help greatly appreciated as I don't have a clue what anything in the Log means!
something odd going on;

Quote:02:13:50 T:50392576 M:363175936 WARNING: FillBuffer: curl failed with code 22
02:13:50 T:50392576 M:363175936 ERROR: CFileCurl::CReadState::Open, didn't get any data from stream.

can you enabled debug logging so we can see more in xbmc.log
Sure, I'll do that this evening and paste the log file here either tonight or in the morning.

Thanks for replying ... I do like forums where people actually pay attention to and respond to your queries. I'm very much obliged!
Hi, sorry for the delay in posting the new log ... blame it on the time of year and spending a few days away from the computer.

The link for the log after switching on debugging is here: http://pastebin.com/af5BxD7c

I really hope you are able to help me solve this.

Many thanks.
humm, I thought we fixed that ppc issue with curl.

Hi Davilla,

Sorry ... I don't understand the log at all so I don't know what the "issue with curl" is so I was just waiting to see what else got said, but I should've acknowledged your response, thanks for replying. Any news on a solution for this?

Thanks,

Phil

RTMP streams don't work in the current ppc Dharma build.
A new build fixing that should be available soon.

Thanks Beenje. Is there an easy way for a novice to identify non-RTMP streams in the meantime or am I best just waiting for the fix? Any idea on the ETA?

Try http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/osx/ppc...repack.dmg
Official download link will be updated soon.
I got mine to stream but can't find the local content. When you fire up XBMC from the launcher, how do you get the local content (movies) already on apple tv?

This doesn't have anything to do with this thread.
And you already posted the same question. You won't get faster answer like that.
Just so people realize. Streaming playing of radio stations works fine in XBMC under the Apple TV.
Unfortunately I am having the same issue.

My machine is running Snow Leopard on a Macbook Pro (late 2006 Intel) so I don't think the PPC issues are relevant?

Any help is much appreciated. Perhaps this is related to why I have had such bad performance on 720p and (unplayable) 1080i content from an otherwise stout Macbook Pro.

Thanks!
