I've been following these conversations for driver levels, different revs of xbmc, etc - please pardon me if this is elementary but I've not found yet how to get my aTV into 1080p mode...

I just got a 1st gen aTV and have the Broadcom card/XBMC/drivers all installed (v10 Dharma & v174 of the driver).

The menus are somewhat confusing to a noob such as I; the display card does come up as being active in the Settings > Video > Playback > Allow hardware acceleration (CrystalHD). Yet the Settings > System > Video Output has the Display fixed at 1280x720; I can't shift it up or down.

Could some kind soul point me to the right switch to enable this-here 1080p all the kids are talkin' about?
XBMC running on the ATV OS doesn't support 1080p, only 720p. It'll play 1080p videos, but will scale the output resolution to 720p. For true 1080p video output and resolution support, you will have to install Linux on the AppleTV. Please see this thread for more information: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=74992

Ah - I didn't know that, but actually 720p looks pretty decent so far. I'll take a look at the Linux/aTV options and see how much more complicated/feature rich it is.

Thank you, kind sir or madam, and a very Merry Winter Holiday to you!
