Hi all,

I was embarrassed earlier in front of the xbmc sceptic wife when I couldn't play an avi file from the xbmc interface.

I got an error message I've never seen before which was that it couldn't play the file, more details are in the log file.

log file (on top of quite a few other things) says the following. Can anyone gleam anything from the below to tell me why it couldn't be played please? I'm running Dharma Beta 2:

It means it can't open the file, you should check the permissions.
thanks for that, I didn't know exactly how to check so I looked at the directory in FileZilla and that film was -rwxrwxrwx just the same as all the other films, owner/group is root/root just like the other films also, does this help? I'm confused.
Can you run other movies from the same place as the one messing with you?
Are you running the Live version (Linux) or is it something else?
Can you open the movie messing with you with another player (so it is not the file itself that is corrupt)?

Finally, why run Dharma beta 2 when the final one is out?
Why not install the latest version and then try?!
Hi, I am running Live. I plan to upgrade my Dharma but am scared to just yet!

Yes I can play the file on a windoze 7 box woithout issie running media player classic
